Advent Service – Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula

Our Honorary Chaplain, The Revd Canon Roger Hall MBE, invites Arts Scholars and their guests to attend an Advent service on Sunday 27 November 2022 in the Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula. This is a family service, and all are welcome.

Fish & Chips Lunch

The latest edition of an Arts Scholars tradition: the Friday Fish and Chips lunch at the City University Club. Please note a slightly changed format: the lunch will include Fish and chips, a glass of wine, dessert of the day, coffee and chocolates and a staff gratuity.

Livery Dinner

This dinner is the only event specifically designed for Liverymen. It provides a rare opportunity for Liverymen to get together and spend a convivial evening in each others company.

Mithras Lecture

The 15th Mithras Lecture will be delivered by Tim Knox, Director of the Royal Collection. Taking as his title,'Past Caring? Stories from a career in old houses, museums and collections', Tim will reminisce on his career in Heritage and will touch upon his experience looking after one of the greatest of all private collections, and the last of the great European Royal collections to remain in the hands of its Royal Family. The lecture will be followed by a reception.

Watts Gallery

The Watts Gallery is an art gallery and heritage site consisting of Arts & Craft buildings and beautifully landscaped woodlands and grounds, nestled in the Surrey Hills. The visit will comprise of a private tour of the galleries and the De Morgan Collection, followed by access to the ‘G F Watts and Sculpture: A Fragmented Legacy’ temporary exhibition, and a visit to the Watts Chapel and Limnerslease House. The cafe has been reserved for our group (lunch at individual’s expense)

Lundenwic Walking Tour - The World Beneath Your Feet

Location:

Meet under front portico of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square.

The walk will look at the most neglected period of London’s history when, from AD600 to 900, the mid-Saxon settlement of Lundenwic was focused not on the abandoned site of the ancient Roman city of Londinium, but in Covent Garden/Strand.

Visit to Spencer House, London

A private Arts Scholars visit to Spenser House, the wonderful 18th century London Palace designed by John Vardy and James 'Athenian' Stuart for the Spencer family. A glass of champagne will be served at the end (no other drinks option available).
