What we do
The Company’s aim is to sustain and enhance the standing of those employed in the Arts Professions by recognising excellence and by fostering opportunity in the sector. In particular, the Company seeks to:

support growth and diversity in the Arts Professions through education, opportunity and career development

promote honourable practice and professional and social exchange amongst members

raise charitable funds to encourage and support historic projects in the City of London and beyond, including museums and related organisations

help preserve our heritage for future generations

support the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and Aldermen of the City of London
These ends are furthered by the Company’s Charitable Trust, which provides educational awards and supports publications, exhibitions and other educational and career-focussed initiatives in the historic and decorative arts.
Affiliations
Thames Valley Wing, RAF Air Cadets
Thames Valley Wing supports RAF Air Cadet units across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. It provides training in aviation, leadership, adventure activities, shooting, fieldcraft and ceremonial duties for young people aged 12–20. Run by volunteers, the programme develops teamwork, discipline and life skills while supporting local communities.
University of London Officers’ Training Corps (ULOTC)
ULOTC offers London university students military training and leadership development alongside their studies, with no obligation to join the Army. Through field exercises, adventurous training, sport and social activities, members build leadership, resilience and practical skills valuable for both military and civilian careers.
Cultural Property Protection Unit
Established in 2018 following the UK’s ratification of the Hague Convention, the CPPU protects cultural heritage during military operations. It provides specialist advice, planning and support to prevent damage, destruction and looting of culturally significant buildings, artefacts and monuments, helping preserve communities’ history and identity.
The Arts Scholars supports two annual awards to our affiliated units:

Thames Valley Wing: Best Adult Leader

University of London Officers Training Corps: Best Officer Cadet
Each award includes a silver trophy and contributes to an annual £500 grant for the organisation. ULOTC also maintains an Arts Scholars honours board displaying past winners.
