Deborah Charles

Deborah started work in the City of London in the Commodity markets and Lloyds of London. However, new horizons needed to be reached, so she began a career in tourism, working abroad in several countries before returning to London to work at senior management level for an international tour operator.

After her two children were born, she completed an Open University Degree. At the same time, she trained to be a London Blue Badge Tourist Guide to fulfil of her passion for our heritage and the Arts.

She is a member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding and the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides, where she has served as an examiner and been on the Executive Council. Deborah continues to run her own private tours business, part time. In 2010, the Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars beckoned. Being a born organiser, she joined the Events Committee. After 14 years of organising events for members and being chair, she stepped down, while progressing towards being Master in May 2025.

Deborah travels extensively, enjoys walking, badminton, as well as being a very active competitive and social member of her Skiffing (rowing) club on the Thames.
