Barker, Graham

Graham Barker DL FSA

Graham Barker followed a career in HR and for many years he was HR Director of Takeda Global R&D (Europe) Ltd. His chief passion is numismatics and he has collected Roman coins from the age of ten. He specialises in the coins of the usurper emperor Carausius who ruled Britain from 286 – 293 AD and has published several articles on this intriguing emperor.

His book “Imperial Legitimation: the iconography of the Golden Age myth on Roman Imperial Coinage of the third century AD” was published by Spink in 2020. He is working on his next book, on the rebel emperors Carausius and Allectus, with fellow Arts Scholar Dr Sam Moorhead from the British Museum.

Graham has a Law Degree from Durham University and in 2017 he was awarded an MA with Distinction in Classics and Ancient History by Warwick University.

Graham is Vice Lord Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire. He was High Sheriff of Berkshire in 2018 when his main focus was rehabilitation of offenders. In February 2022 Graham was appointed Chair of National Theatre Foundation. He is a Fellow of Society Antiquaries and a Fellow of the Royal Numismatic Society.
